Hello all. My name is Tyler Raymond, and I am a family law attorney from Ansonia, Connecticut. As an undergraduate student at the University of Maine, I studied Social/Abnormal Psychology for four years. I became fascinated with the Thematic Apperception Test when I learned about it in my Psy 101 course, and I soaked up as much as I could after that! However, I was never able to find more than a hand full of images. After scouring the web for quite some time, I finally found an auction on eBay selling a series of Thematic Apperception Test images and an accompanying booklet explaining the test and how it is employed. Because I assume that a number of you are looking for these images, too, I have decided to create this Blog and post them.
Given that I am an attorney, the first thing that I would like to point out is that I do not have the copy rights to these images, and that I am only publishing this blog to provide entertainment value and artistic appreciation, as well as critical commentary on: 1) the artists’ work, 2) the Thematic Apperception Test in general, and 3) the type of imagery used. I am trying to comply with copyright infringement laws, so I ask that you do the same. Please do not use these images for profit in any way.
Some may argue that making the images widely available to the general public will have a detrimental effect in that people will be able to review the photos and search for socially acceptable narratives to stay one step ahead of their psychologist. With that being said, most practicing psychologists are reluctant to use this test today because of the controversial nature of the test. Furthermore, if you are attempting to stay one step ahead of your psychiatrist or psychologist, you will most likely be disappointed because that still employ the TAT are likely to utilize newer images - as you can tell, most of these are from the 1930's and 40's. Besides, there is no right answer or story. Alright, now let's dig in!
A brief summary of the test can be found on Wikipedia, and you can buy Henry Murray's testing manual (a copy of which I received with the images), on Amazon.
Below each image on this Blog is a caption of "B," "G," "M," "F," or some combination thereof, indicating the classification of the image.
"B" indicates that the image is appropriate for boys under the age of 14.
"G" indicates that the image is appropriate for girls below the age of 14.
"M" is for males above the age of 14.
"F" is for females above the age of 14.
Combinations (i.e. B, M) mean that it is appropriate for all indicated age ranges and/or sexes included, and no caption indicates that it is appropriate for all ages and sexes.

UPDATE:
I found the following three images online, which I am positive are TAT images. If anyone knows the protocol on them (i.e. what sex and age range they are appropriate for) or the author and/or source of the image, please post a comment below so that I can do a bit of research and add the information to the image. I assume that the first 2 images would be F and G,F (respectively), and I won't even venture a guess on the 3rd. Thank you in advance for any help.

I hope you all enjoy these images as much as I do. I plan on framing my favorite images from the originals and placing them around my home office when it is finished next year.... I'm sure my friends and family will all have their own interpretations to share as they sit in my office, so I'm anxious to hang them!
One final note - please feel free to post comments at will. I enjoy seeing where the traffic from this site comes from, and I would love to hear from some of you.
